Competitors in the Highland Fling, Scottish Highland dancing adult heats during the 2023 Drumtochty Highland Games. Elevation and power are both important in highland dancing. Here is an exercise to work on just that! All you need is a set of stairs, I used a small box to make it easier to film and a bit more challenging. Transfer your weight towards the foot on the step and push off, straightening your knee and even trying to point your foot if you want more of a challenge. You can do this with your foot straight ahead. Check out your alignment as you land and take off as well! Try 8-10 on each side, 2 sets.
