Air raid sirens sounded in Tel Aviv Monday after reports of a missile launch from Yemen, sending residents running for shelter.

The revival of international airline operations in Israel is gaining momentum, with Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air set to expand its flight offerings to Tel Aviv starting January 15, the Globes financial newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Wizz Air is offering cheap flights from Tel Aviv to various destinations from January 15, including London, Abu Dhabi, Rome, Milan, and Athens.

The Iranian-backed Houthi militia in Yemen on Tuesday claimed to have attacked the international airport in Tel Aviv as well as targets in Jerusalem. Houthi military spokesman Yehya Saree said in a televised statement that Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport and an electricity plant in the Jerusalem area had been attacked with ballistic missiles.

The Israeli military said several people were lightly injured after its air defenses failed to intercept the projectile, which struck a playground in the city.

A missile fired from Yemen by Iran-backed Houthi rebels struck Israel’s commercial hub of Tel Aviv before dawn on Saturday, wounding 16 people in the second such attack within days.

As tensions with Israel escalate, Yemen-based Houthi rebels launched a deadly attack targeting Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv and a power station in Jerusalem with a hypersonic missile. Ben Gurion Airport briefly halted operations after missile interception over Israeli skies.

The Houthi rebels announced that they had attacked Israel's Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and U.S. warship in the Red Sea in three different attacks. The rebels said that they first targeted the Ben Gurion airport with Palestine 2 ballistic missile and then a power station near Jerusalem with Zulfiqar ballistic missile.
