Officials in Cuba reported collapsed houses, blocked mountain roads and roofs blown off buildings on Wednesday after Hurricane Melissa tore through the island, Haiti and Jamaica leaving dozens dead.

Hurricane Melissa brought devastation and death to the Caribbean as it tore through the region as one of the most powerful Atlantic storms in more than 150 years.

Residents swept water from homes as they tried to salvage belongings.
