A winter storm warning has been issued for Atlanta and surrounding areas as Winter Storm Cora is set to arrive in the Atlanta area early Friday with snow and ice through the day. Power outages, hazardous travel with business and school closings already ongoing.

Storm Cora is set to wallop Atlanta and much of north Georgia with snow and ice on Friday. Power outages and hazardous travel are likely. Here’s the latest forecast on how much wintry precipitation you could see and when it will fall.

Areas in the north Georgia mountains will see between 3-6 inches of snow with locally higher amounts possible farther north into the mountains. Snowfall totals of 1-2 inches will be common around I-20 with 0.1-0.25 inch of ice possible. The northern suburbs in metro Atlanta will see between 2-3 inches of snow.
