Belinda Bencic reached a first Wimbledon semi-final as she beat Mirra Andreeva in straight sets on Centre Court. Seventh seed Andreeva had been the firm favourite, with the 18-year-old up to this point not dropping a set on her impressive run to the quarter-finals.
Andreeva, who hails from Siberia, is only 18 years old, but she’s already climbed into the world’s top 10 and reached the semi-finals of the French Open. She got to the quarter-finals at Wimbledon but fell on Wednesday 7-6 (3), 7-6 (2) to Belinda Bencic of Switzerland.
Mirra Andreeva has been in fine form at Wimbledon as well as being a cheerleader for her coach, Conchita Martinez, who has been in doubles action at the All England Club
Another royal has made a surprise appearance at Wimbledon. This time around, it’s Queen Camilla, who attended the quarter-final matchup between Belinda Bencic and Mirra Andreeva. Earlier in the day, she was seen meeting with All England Club chair Debbie Jevans and reportedly spoke with Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic.
An animated Mirra Andreeva fulfills her promise to take "revenge" on coach Conchita Martinez by turning cheerleader at her invitational match at Wimbledon.
After an impressive display on Centre Court last time out, tennager Mirra Andreeva will be looking to produce another spectacle at SW19 against Belinda Bencic
