Reds manager Terry Francona said Saturday that Spiers will require season-ending Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, Pat Brennan of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Spiers will undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow, MLB.com reports. Spiers was originally on a rehab assignment for a shoulder impingement but was pulled from a scheduled start with soreness.
