Human remains found more than three decades ago in Placer County have been identified as belonging to a Berkeley woman who disappeared on Halloween night. Wendy Abrams-Nishikai, 21, was last seen in Berkeley on Oct.

After 35 years, the remains of a woman found in Colfax in 1990 have been identified as a woman who was last seen on Halloween 1989 in Berkeley, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office. Trisha Fogarty, a 70-year-old woman, was last seen in Loomis on Feb. 5, and her vehicle was spotted in the Lincoln area, prompting a silver alert.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office hopes the woman’s identification can help provide closure to her family after 35 years.

"It is believed that somebody killed her. And so now we're investigating and trying to determine who may be responsible for her death."
