At least 20 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli air strike that hit a popular seafront cafe frequently used by activists, journalists, and local residents in western Gaza City on Monday, according to medics and eyewitnesses.

Witnesses and medics in Gaza say Israeli forces have killed at least 22 people and wounded 20 others when they fired on crowds returning from a food aid site and at a United Nations warehouse.

Despite international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has killed more than 56,500 Palestinians in a deadly onslaught in the Gaza Strip since October 2023.
