Five-star quarterback recruit Ryder Lyons made headlines this week with his commitment to the BYU Cougars, bypassing top national programs like the USC Trojans

The Ducks tried hard to get Lyons, particularly after 5-star QB Jared Curtis announced his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs earlier this spring. Oregon was favored to land Lyons for quite a while, but ultimately, the reports of what appears to be an incredibly lucrative NIL deal for Lyons swayed him to BYU.

It isn’t every day that a five-star quarterback commits to BYU, but that is exactly what happened on Tuesday when Folsom (Calif.) High School signal caller Ryder Lyons opted for the Cougars over Oregon.
