Uecker, who died Thursday at 90, used to sit in the bullpen at Connie Mack Stadium and deliver play-by-play commentary into a beer cup.

In a St. Louis Baseball Writers' Association panel discussion in 2014, Uecker said the experience left a lasting impression on him.

Bob Uecker, the iconic broadcaster fondly known as "Mr. Baseball," has died. The Milwaukee Brewers confirmed his passing, recognizing him for his decades-long tenure as the beloved voice of their team and his significant contributions to the sport.

He earned the nickname "Mr. Baseball" for what the self-mocking funny man did off the field rather than on it.
