Illinois State Police are investigating a deadly crash that occurred on Interstate 55 early Sunday morning. Troopers responded to the scene of the crash shortly after 3 a.m. on southbound I-55 at I-294.

Surveillance video was released Monday from a 2022 incident at a bank in Romeoville that ended with the suspect getting killed.

Further investigation into the incident indicated that the vehicle was not shot at but was caused by other debris, according to ISP.

COOK COUNTY, Ill. (WLS) -- A fatal crash shut down lanes of I-55 near Burr Ridge on Sunday morning, according to Illinois Sate police. The crash happened at about 3:08 a.m. on the southbound lanes of I-55 at the Tri-State Tollway. ISP confirmed the crash was deadly but did not release more information about the victims.
