The changes come as Skydance TV and the former MTV Entertainment and Showtime groups come under the Paramount TV Studios banner, led by Matt Thunell.
Paramount Skydance is laying off about 10% of its workforce, achieving some of the cost savings that CEO David Ellison promised investors when he took charge of the media company over the summer.
A number of television executives have been affected by the major round of layoffs at Paramount, the first since the company was established by the $8.4 billion merger of Paramount Global and Skydance in August.
Ellison, for his part, reiterated that he plans to invest in the company, plans supported by the monster $7.7. billion deal for UFC rights, as well as deals for things like Bari Weiss’ The Free Press, film rights for the Call of Duty video game franchise, and a deal with the Duffer Brothers, among others.
There are more big changes coming for CBS News, but for the first time in a while, they can’t be traced to new editor-in-chief Bari Weiss. Paramount underwent a round of layoffs today, eliminating 1,000 jobs across the company.
Lisa Ling is one of the CBS News personalities that have been cut from the network amid the massive layoffs at Paramount following its acquisitionn by Skydance.
