Israel's head of domestic intelligence, Ronan Bar, announced his resignation five weeks after being fired by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a maneuver that was immediately blocked by the Supreme Court.

Embattled Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar says he will step down on June 15, nearly three months after Israel’s government voted for the first time ever to dismiss the head of the security agency.

Bar is one of the most senior officials to depart following the Oct. 7, 2023 attack.
