Northeastern baseball’s incredible season came to an end on Sunday, as the Huskies came agonizingly close to an upset over Mississippi State in an NCAA regional but fell, 3-2, in Tallahassee.

The No. 3 seed Bulldogs (36-22) hung on to defeat No. 2 Northeastern 3-2 on June 1 at Dick Howser Stadium. It booked them into the regional final against No. 1 Florida State (40-14) on June 1 (5 p.m. CT, ESPN+).

A pair of upsets led the way on Saturday as two teams moved within a win of the championship final of the Women's College World Series. No. 6 Texas upset rival No. 2 Oklahoma in the afternoon to move one step closer to its first national title in the NCAA softball tournament .
