Two months after losing a part of his right leg to a shark bite, Kenji Nonaka is grateful to finally be back surfing again.

Kenji Nonaka was surfing on the north central side of Maui when a shark attacked his right leg, sending him to the hospital and on a road to recovery. But through it all, Nonaka was determined to return to the ocean.

WAILUKU, Hawaii (KHON2) — “I love surfing, I want to go back surfing,” said 61-year-old Kenji Nonaka after surviving a shark attack while surfing in Waiehu. After two months, Kenji finally fulfilled his wishes, returning to the water after a lengthy recovery.
