Hot and dry weather across California is fueling a Fourth of July warning from both the Governor's Office and state fire officials: illegal fireworks will not be tolerated.

Before you light off fireworks to celebrate this week, make sure you aren't headed for a steep fine or raising wildfire risk by using illegal fireworks.

Officials encourage New Yorkers to simply enjoy the city-approved fireworks presentation as opposed to illegally setting off fireworks of their own.
