At least six tornado sightings were reported in eastern Colorado on Sunday afternoon with at least one storm forecasters called “extremely dangerous.”

Some homes in eastern Colorado were badly damaged after multiple tornadoes touched down in parts of Adams County and Elbert County.

Following tornadic storms Sunday in Denver, the National Weather Service will conduct storm surveys to determine their intensity and path length. The Enhanced Fujita scale is used to rate tornadoes.

FOX31's Hanna Powers spoke with an Elbert County resident whose workshop was destroyed. Several windows were blown out, air conditioning units were tossed by the wind, and his home will likely need a new roof.

Hundreds of thousands of residents are concerned about fair warning when it comes to tornadoes in Colorado. While some counties have siren systems in place, others rely on alert systems.
