A number of television executives have been affected by the major round of layoffs at Paramount, the first since the company was established by the $8.4 billion merger of Paramount Global and Skydance in August.

The influx in layoffs follows Skydance Media's $8 billion acquisition of Paramount in August, as CBS is one of the media company's subsidiaries. NPR previously reported that Skydance owner David Ellison and the company have expressed interest in shifting CBS News to produce apolitical content.

The news division is also closing its bureau in South Africa, as every corner felt the impact of the larger Paramount cuts.

Lisa Ling is one of the CBS News personalities that have been cut from the network amid the massive layoffs at Paramount following its acquisitionn by Skydance.
