The Tulsa Zoo says it will “continue” the L.A. Zoo’s “legacy of caring for them with excellence, teamwork and individualized attention”

Despite protests and objections since the announcement that Billy and Tina would be transferred from the Los Angeles Zoo to the Tulsa Zoo, the aging elephants have arrived in Oklahoma.

The whereabouts of Billy and Tina, a pair of Asian elephants long housed at the Los Angeles Zoo, are unclear on Wednesday after a report they had been secretly removed and shipped to another zoo — but neither zoo officials nor Mayor Karen Bass’ office had an immediate response to requests for comment.
