Russian President Vladimir Putin has discussed the burgeoning economic cooperation between Moscow and Beijing and their relations with the United States in a video call with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

Lt. Gen. Vladimir Alekseyev, Russia's GRU deputy chief, was shot and hospitalised in a Moscow assassination attempt. The attacker posed as a delivery person. Russia has accused Ukraine, which has not commented on the incident.
