Game umpire Adrian Hill needed to be carted off of the field in the third quarter of the Bills-Texans Week 12 "Thursday Night Football" game.

The loss dropped quarterback Josh Allen and the Bills to 7–4, two games behind the Patriots for first place in the AFC East. Buffalo fell from the No. 5 seed in the AFC to the No. 6 seed behind the Chargers (7–4). If the playoffs started Friday, the Bills would travel to Indianapolis for a wild-card round matchup against the Colts.

One week after the New England Patriots took care of business on Thursday Night Football, the Buffalo Bills failed to do the same. The team of head coach Sean McDermott suffered a 23-19 defeat at the hands of the Houston Texans, dropping to 7-4 on the season.
