Major League Baseball is testing the automated ball-strike challenge system in spring training and Pete Alonso got his first taste of it during the Mets spring training game against the Houston Astros.

Pete Alonso had a scare during a New York Mets practice at their spring training facility in Port St. Lucie, Fla., on Thursday. Alonso was hit in the face by a ball and went down to the ground.

Pete Alonso is continuing his ride with the New York Mets after signing a two-year, $54 million extension that will keep him anchoring first base and the heart of the order. He'll be paramount to the Mets' success as they hope to build on a run that took them to the National League Championship Series last season.
