Nearly two dozen empty oil tanks, some towering over the edge of Oyster Bay Harbor, could be demolished, easing long-sought plans to redevelop the waterfront, officials said.
The storage tanks for oil used by current oil facilities will have been around long before the evolution of the tank inspections, monitoring, and record keeping standards of modern-day facilities.
