In a partnership aimed at promoting what it describes as 'conscious tourism,' Airbnb has signed a $1.5 million deal with Rome's Colosseum to sponsor a series of staged gladiator fights.

Rome's iconic colosseum is set to hold gladiator fights for the first time in about 1,600 years, thanks to a partnership with Airbnb. To celebrate the release of the upcoming Gladiator II movie, Airbnb will randomly select a lucky few to tour the Colosseum on May 7 and 8 next year for a once-in-a-lifetime experience,

Gladiator 2 sees Paul Mescal star as Lucius, son of Russell Crowe's Maximus. He's thrown into the arena to battle for his life under the tutelage of Denzel Washington's Macrinus, who has schemes of his own.
