CANTON, Ohio (WKBN) – The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced on Wednesday that Art Rooney Jr. is a semifinalist for the Class of 2026 in the Contributor category. Rooney was the team’s personnel director from 1965 to 1986 and is a member of the Steelers Ring of Honor.
Art Rooney Jr. is one step closer to being a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Rooney Jr., who has worked for the Pittsburgh Steelers since 1961 and remains on the board of directors, is one of nine semifinalists in the contributor category for the Class of 2026.

Pro Football Hall of Fame: 4 Steelers advance in voting process
On Wednesday, it was revealed that C Maurkice Pouncey, WR Hines Ward, K Gary Anderson, and OLB James Harrison were among the 52 modern-era players advancing in the voting process. With hopes of entering the semifinalist stage, the Hall of Fame’s 50-person selection committee will individually cast their votes for 25 of the 52 nominees to advance.
