A memorial service in Florida for a homicide victim turned into a murder scene when a gunman opened fire on the mourners, killing one.

A massive fire broke out early Thursday, Nov. 6 reportedly at the home of Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra, local fire officials said. Firefighters responded to a multi-million dollar home for a report of a house fire in the 4800 block of Davis Road near Ponce De Leon at about 4:36 a.m. ET, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed to USA TODAY.

A day later, the charred remains of Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra’s house are still smoldering. Now, fire investigators will begin the work of determining what caused the blaze and whether firefighters faced any unexpected hurdles at the scene.
