BermudAir first launched in 2023, and now operates a fleet of Embraer E175 and E190 aircraft. Beyond the New York-area markets, the airline flies to several cities across the United States, including Boston, Orlando, Raleigh/Durham, and Baltimore, along with several destinations in Canada.

Communication systems are down, so we still don't know the total breadth and depth of the catastrophe in Jamaica. But what we know is horrible. The western half of the island was devastated.

In just two short years, BermudAir has gone from a niche island startup to an ambitious competitor in the regional airline scene, and now it’s taking its next big leap: expanding in New York and branching out beyond Bermuda.

Cuba worked on Friday to rescue residents still stranded by unprecedented floodwaters in the wake of Hurricane Melissa, including a flooded river that had cut off one of the country's most important east-west thoroughfares.

Hurricane Melissa made landfall in southwest Jamaica this week near the coastal town of Black River, which the government has described as “ground zero.”
