The chances of invest 93L—a disturbance over the Gulf Coast with the potential to become Tropical Storm Dexter—developing into a cyclone have fallen, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

Pennsylvania is tapping into a federal program to aid flood recovery efforts from a weather disaster last summer. Lycoming County is among nine counties in northeastern and central Pennsylvania that were walloped last August by Tropical Storm Debby.

The system, identified as Invest 93L, originally developed east of Florida before traversing the entire state and ending up over Louisiana and Mississippi.

The storm remains disorganized on Wednesday but still has time to strengthen over the Gulf before making landfall on Thursday.

The Florida Panhandle will see heavy rainfall from Invest 93L after it reaches the Gulf on Wednesday. The greatest threat to the area at the moment is flash flooding in low-lying, poor-drainage areas and urban locations. Invest 93L is currently expected to make landfall near Louisiana's southeastern coast Thursday morning.

As the peak months of the Atlantic hurricane season quickly approach, conditions for tropical development become more likely.

Forecasters are warning of early signs of a potential tropical cyclone developing along the northeastern Gulf of Mexico. A low-pressure system that could bring storms to Florida before moving west has a medium chance of developing into a tropical cyclone over the next several days, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

Several inches of rain are likely on the islands that this disturbance passes over. An increase in swells and rip current potential are expected late week near the Lesser Antilles. These effects may be confined to a smaller area given the wave's smaller size.
