After delays, hundreds of full-time Air Force reservists are preparing to join the Space Force this year, while the plan for their part-time colleagues is still in the works.

The Space Force is considering re-competing certain programs to leverage fast-advancing technologies from commercial space companies.

The Space Force was a military branch created in 2019 during President Donald Trump’s first term and civilians make up about 33% of its personnel.

Chief of Space Operations Gen. Chance Saltzman said Tuesday the Space Force has lost almost 14% of its civilian workforce in recent months.
