The Pac-12 has extended an invitation to Texas State to join the conference as an all-sports member beginning in the summer of 2026, an industry source confirmed late Thursday night. But it could be a few days before any move is finalized.

College realignment is reportedly inching closer to Texas State University. Late Thursday night, sources confirmed to the Austin Sports Journal that Texas State was officially invited to join the Pac-12. An email sent to a Texas State athletics officials asking about the report did not immediately draw a response.

Texas State began the process of calling a Monday meeting of the university’s Board of Regents to formally accept the Pac-12’s invitation, according to Thamel. Additionally, university officials began to alert its current conference, the Sun Belt, of the Pac-12’s offer and its intention to accept it.
