Heavy rain fell across North Texas overnight Wednesday and continued through midday Thursday followed by clear skies in the afternoon. North Texans woke up Thursday to widespread heavy rain and thunderstorms.

On Thursday at 12:04 a.m. the NWS Fort Worth TX issued a flash flood warning. The warning is for Collin, Kaufman and Rockwall counties.

Governor Greg Abbott has directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to deploy additional state resources, including swiftwater rescue boat squads and urban search and rescue teams. Among them is a Fort Worth Fire Rescue squad, which deployed this morning to stage in Abilene and could be moved depending on the evolving situation.

First Alert Weather Days are in effect for Wednesday and Thursday due to heavy rain and possible flooding.A Flood Watch will go into effect for parts of North Texas on Wednesday evening and continue through Thursday morning.

The NWS Fort Worth TX issued an updated report at 2:29 a.m. on Thursday for strong thunderstorms until 3 a.m. The alert is for Palo Pinto, Parker, Erath and Hood counties.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for parts of North Texas through Thursday morning, including all four metro counties.
