The bodies of three men were recovered from the Mississippi River near Memphis, Tennessee, on Wednesday after they went missing while fishing and swimming on a sandbar.

The Wisconsin graduate student who mysteriously vanished after leaving a waterfront bar in Wisconsin early Sunday was found dead in the Mississippi River on Wednesday.

The men were last seen on a sandbar south of a boat ramp in Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park, about 13 miles north of Memphis.

The three men had been fishing and swimming south of the boat ramp in Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park before being reported missing, officials said.

LAKE CITY, Minn. — The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office identified the man who drowned in the Mississippi River while trying to save the life of a young girl last weekend. In a press release, the sheriff’s office said the man was Ronald John Highet, 56, of Rochester.

A male is missing after falling into the Mississippi River near Campbell’s Island on Thursday evening. Multiple fire and rescue agencies are assisting in the search.
