As we move into the afternoon we will see plenty of showers developing mainly affecting central, northern and southeastern parts of England as well as southern Scotland. Scattered in nature, so not everywhere will be affected.

The Met Office has issued a weather warning as thunderstorms are set to batter Merseyside. The weather agency said heavy showers and scattered thunderstorms may cause some localised flooding and transport disruption on Monday, July 21.

In addition to the thunderstorm warnings, there is a yellow rain warning in place in Northern Ireland which came into effect at 6pm on Sunday and is set to be lifted at 6pm. Although there are currently no weather warnings in place from Tuesday, the Met Office UK-wide forecast warns of more rain, interspersed with sunny spells.
