When speaking to the media after the second round, Celtics Vice President of Basketball Operations, Mike Zarren, detailed what Shulga brings to the table and why Boston was drawn to the impressive shooter. Shulga played in 35 games last season, averaging 15 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4 assists per game while shooting 38.7% from 3-point range.

The odds of a second round pick making an NBA roster are never very good, and even worse when your name is called near the end of the last round of the draft. Such was the place where new Boston Celtics guard prospect Max Shulga was picked up by the team that will reportedly have him as a two way player shuttling back and forth from Portland to play with the Maine Celtics.

The Boston Celtics have selected Max Shulga with the No. 57 pick in the 2025 NBA draft. The Ukrainian guard spent five seasons in college, finishing out his career with VCU, where he averaged 14.5 points and shot 40.2 percent from deep across two seasons.
