Lawyers in Karen Read’s murder retrial were called back into court on Tuesday morning after deliberating jurors came forward with questions about evidence in the case and a verdict slip.

Jurors in the Karen Read trial had their first full day of deliberations Monday in the high-profile case, but did not reach a verdict. Read is facing trial for a second time in the death of her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O'Keefe.

Jurors inquired about possible outcomes that could lead to a hung jury, but Judge Cannone didn't want to cross that road at this stage in deliberations.

“I don’t believe that’s consistent with the evidence and what occurred,” Rentschler replied. Rentschler was the final defense witness, just as he was during Read’s first trial last summer. After he left the stand, Jackson announced Read’s defense would rest its case subject to a final ruling on evidence.
