Jordan has announced a sweeping ban on the Muslim Brotherhood that could include shutting down the country’s largest opposition party, after accusing the group of planning attacks.

Jordan outlawed the Muslim Brotherhood, the country's most vocal opposition group, and confiscated its assets on Wednesday after members of the group were found to be linked to a sabotage plot, Interior Minister Mazen Fraya said.

It is not clear how the ban will affect the Brotherhood's political arm, which is the largest group in parliament.
