A manhunt ended in Texas when a Houston man accused of shooting and killing a deputy serving a warrant on him in the parking lot of a Dollar Tree, was fatally shot by police.

One person is dead after a shooting at the Centre at Post Oak shopping center on Westheimer in the Galleria area. HOUSTON — One person is dead after a shooting Thursday night in the Galleria area, according to the Houston Police Department. The shooting happened on Westheimer Road near Post Oak Boulevard.

Houston police said they were called out initially to a shots fired call in the 5000 block of Westheimer. Officials said an injured man was taken by private vehicle to an urgent care location located at 5018 San Felipe, where he later died. Homicide investigators are headed to the scene to investigate.

Deputy Jesus Vargas, a member of the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, was in a shooting in southwest Houston and the shooter has been killed, officials say.
