Our Take: Stream It! Season 5 of Harley Quinn keeps the hilarity coming at a rapid-fire clip, concocts a whole host of new misadventures for its main duo – this time with Metropolis under threat – and expands on and strengthens Harley and Ivy’s love story in ways well worth shipping.

Anyone hoping for abundant nods to James Gunn’s Superman probably wasn’t fulfilled, but plenty of fun Man of Steel nods were still on display, as well as a particularly stellar “Martha” joke that was all-too-reminiscent of The Penguin ’s finale. Let’s take a quick run through my personal favorite highlights.

The Batman spinoff starring the Joker's love interest debuted on DC Universe, a streaming service that has since been phased out. After Season 2, Harley Quinn moved to MAX where it has continued to earn rave reviews. The series also spawned its first spin-off series Kite Man: Hell Yeah! in 2024. Now Harley and co. are returning for a fifth season.

As James Gunn’s reinvention of the DC movie and TV universe gathers momentum, it would be easy to forget about the previously existing DC adaptations that are continuing alongside Gunn’s new vision. I hope that won’t be the case for Max’s veteran adult animated series “Harley Quinn,
