A brush fire broke out Wednesday in Chino Hills, burning more than 100 acres on a hillside just off the 71 Freeway.

A brush fire, named the Euclid Fire, ignited in Chino Hills on Wednesday, July 23, leading to the temporary closure of both sides of the 71 Freeway. By early evening, the blaze had grown to 120 acres and was 5% contained.

As of Thursday morning, July 24, the Euclid fire had burned 120 acres in the Prado Dam area, according to Cal Fire San Bernardino and was 10% contained. Containment is the percentage of the blaze’s perimeter that won’t expand because of natural-terrain barriers, such as rocks or a water body, or firefighters’ work.
