Real Madrid have signed defender Alvaro Carreras from Benfica, the LaLiga club said on Monday, marking a return to the Spanish side for the 22-year-old after he previously spent three years at Real's academy.

Real Madrid’s newest signing, Alvaro Carreras, said goodbye to Benfica fans on his Instagram account, shortly after Real Madrid announced the move officially on Monday.

Real Madrid reached a deal to sign Álvaro Carreras from Benfica on Monday, bringing back the young left back who came through the Spanish club's youth squads. Madrid said the 22-year-old Carreras is arriving on a six-year contract.
