Trump signed measures Thursday revoking waivers for the state's mandates that clean up car and truck exhaust and ramp up sales of electric vehicles. California and 10 other states immediately sued and the governor ordered the air board to craft a new mandate.

President Donald Trump is expected to sign a measure Thursday that blocks California’s first-in-the-nation rule banning the sale of new gas-powered cars by 2035.

Trump had campaigned against three programs that allowed the states to require manufacturers to sell an increasing amount of electric cars and trucks, phase out sales of gasoline powered cars by 2035,

Rep. Kevin Kiley, a divisive California Republican who has spent the entirety of his 3.5-year congressional tenure pledging to “ Newsom-proof ” the state, is very close to overturning the governor’s signature proposal to phase out gas-powered cars in California.

The California Department of Motor Vehicles says Class 3 e-bikes must not transport passengers. It does not specifically address Class 1 or Class 2, but the general restriction suggests a passenger would be allowed if the bike is equipped with a second seat.
