Alex Palou’s near-perfect NTT IndyCar Series season saw its first setback after late contact on the streets of Detroit

Alex Palou and the No. 10 DHL Chip Ganassi Racing Honda team (photo) finished off the podium for the first time this season Sunday in Detroit, ending up 25th after an accident.

The runaway IndyCar Series points leader wins the Indianapolis 500 by overtaking Marcus Ericsson. Palou, seeking his third series championship in four years, has won five of this year's six races. Palou celebrates on the front straightaway.

The Detroit track is now held in the city’s downtown, on a very technical, tightly-woven 1.7 mile street course with traces of Michigan’s unforgivable road conditions — and as many as 215 manhole covers for additional track surface obstacles.
